Gone Painting

Actually, in truth I will be away for a few days visiting family and celebrating my birthday and although my sketchbook will be coming with me, I am quite certain, not much art will get done.  I am even not taking my DSLR nor laptop!

I will take my new-fangled mobile phone with me which will keep me entertained during the (long) train journey when I shall be reading and commenting on all of your blogs.

I had intended to finish my panoramic landscape, but after a bit more reworking of the foreground fields it is too wet to finish the sheep I had painted in,  those few touches will get finished on my return.  I had intended to show you this image of the stages at the end, but thought I would post it now instead.

When I get back, I am going to start a big landscape project I have in mind, but I shall talk more about that in a future post.

See you soon!

I thought I liked the fields when they were brown, but the bright green gives a better feeling of depth. It's looking very nice and I'm looking forward to the arrival of the sheep.

Hope you have a good trip and Happy Birthday'.

Happy Birthday Rolina and hope you have a super time with your family. Those green fields have really made this one sing now :) Looking forward to getting a glimpse of your next project!

Love seeing all your stages, thanks for sharing. I can't recall ever using a purple 'underpainting' on any of my oils: reds, yellows and blues, yes. But it works really well, I should have tried it, lol. I love the (almost) finished painting, wonderful. Enjoy your trip and have a great Birthday. x

Thanks Keith, those fields took a bit of reworking and thanks for your birthday wishes!

Michael, too, thank you for your encouragement as well as the birthday wishes, too!

Thanks Linda, I normally use the compliment of the main colour for the underpainting, so with green fields, I would use a red or burnt sienna. It was an experiment to use the purple and I must say, I like it and will use it again!

Really interesting to see your working stages - so very different from the way I work! It's fascinating. I like documenting my paintings too - keep meaning to do a blog post showing the different stages - just need to get around to it.
