Sewn Paper on Canvas 8"x10" |
All throughout the January challenge, I had been wanting to sew a lot of strips of painted paper together to make a whole piece and I also wanted to burn some Tyvek!
So, I decided to combine the two techniques and this is the result. I am not sure I consider it a finished piece yet, I may end up cutting the sheet up and using it in something else.

hMMMMM.
Ok, gotta ask: any type of special needle on the machine was used to help make this piece?
Love. Even if you do rip and reuse in the future.
Thanks Angeline-Marie, I used a no.16 needle intended for jeans, it copes very well with the thicker "fabric" of paper layers and canvas.
Funny,at first, I thought it was a painting...
Great experiment, Rolina!
Thanks for visiting, Martine - I think I may paint on it, but need to think about it first!
thought it was a painting at first as well :) sewing machine working better for you it seems :)
Well, all the papers are painted, so I suppose it is sort of a painting! Yes, me and the sewing machine have come to some kind of an understanding now.
did you hit it with a hammer? :p
LOL, no, I just promised it not to put stuff that is too thick through it and it now behaves!
Glad to see a new painting. You are always so inventive with your techniques.
So very interesting Rolina. I have done some hand stitching on paper but not with the machine yet. I have one concern - the green strip just jumped out at me as it doesn't seem to fit. I look forward to seeing what you do with this
Thanks April, yes the Mixed Media Mondays are going to be very experimental. I will not aim to do a proper finished painting, but to try something new.
Thanks Mellowood, it does stand out a bit, but I don't mind. I am thinking of working further into this and some ideas are forming in my mind.
Very cool. I think it looks great as is, but it would be great to use in different ways... cut up for other projects.
Love it!
Thanks Sheila and Andersson Blue!
I love the idea of Mixed Media Mondays. And wow, this piece is so invigorating. It really is eye candy!
Thanks Sandy, it has been changed a bit since this post!
