Sketchbooks

Can you call them sketchbooks if very little actual sketching gets done in them?  One of my favourite artists, Elisabeth Couloigner, calls them Carnets de Travail - workbooks.  I like the sound of that.

Anyway, I have pages and pages in my Carnets of mainly paint, texture and some scribing, here are a few.

Way beyond sketching, Rolina. Really lovely, even beyond studies.

Love the colors! A friend of mine taught me to use and old book as a palette when doing mixed media, then turning the 'painted' pages into art. She also uses books to create 'altered books'. You might want to check it out - here is the link to her blog - http://windinnalteredbooks.blogspot.ca/

Love them Rolina! I love your scribbles, I know I have said that before. But they seem so personal to me. To see your "hand" in your work, is intriguing, and it draws me in. ( no pun intended)

Thanks so much, April, Connie, Val, Carol and Sheila - and here I was feeling a bit shy about these!

Val, thanks for the link, very enjoyable to look at (I also follow Win Din's blog, her work is great)!

very nice pages :D lovely colours

I tend to sketch a lot in my books, but thats probably because I use ink pens a lot. if i painted more, the pages would probably just be a brown mess :p

You really have a gift for color, Rolina! What a treat! Thank you for sharing these beautiful pages.

Thanks Jennifer (I am sure your painted pages would be lovely) You could print your linocuts directly into your sketchbooks and put washes of colour over them..

Thanks too, Chris, I adore colour, and have studied it quite a lot over the years.
