Spirals

I love to reference the Golden Mean in my paintings, it is something I consider when putting a composition together, whether on canvas or when photographing something.  I have been doing it for so long now, it is almost automatic.

Unable to quite bend a flexi-rule to a neat spiral, I decided to make some out of wire.  I shall call them Spirulers(c), heh-heh, patent pending!

I never use the Golden Mean, much to the dismay of my teachers :p just doesn't go with my style of working, makes things too technical for me *shrugs* I know it works pretty well for other people tho

are you going to attach the wire spirals to the canvas??

I am a weirdo, I love stuff like that. I also adore perspective - I am beyond help.

No, I am not going to fix them to the canvas (but now I am thinking about it, LOL) - they are just to draw around, I may not use them in this painting.

would be neat seeing them on a canvas :)

Hi there Rolina!... A nice "twist" on an old take! Always something new to add... and take away. No rule's "golden... is it ! HA HA!!!

Good Painting! "Twist and Shout"!
Warmest regards,
Bruce

Thanks Bruce - oh, now that is an idea - my marvelous invention (the one that is going to make me rich, ha), will have a gold finish. Maybe they will be called "Golden Rulers" (c) patent pending, lol.

Well, Rolina, it definitely sounds as though you should be patenting something! I love these and the whole Fibonacci system fascinates me and I love all that measuring. I think using it accurately (rather than just on the 'thirds') makes for incredibly interesting compositions - to me, it's worth the effort but that's entirely personal and I admit that there are incredibly beautiful works of art that pay no attention to it at all.

Spirulers, Golden Rulers - very clever. :)))

Thanks Sharon, I am glad I am not the only one who loves the whole mathematical systems to help with composition. I don't quite feel so weird now! Glad you enjoyed the punning, too.

I'm serious when I say you should consider writing a techniques book. Your work is just magical, Rolina!

A beautiful color combination!
