Actually finishing earlier this week, here are two pieces completed for the Summer of Colour challenge using two purples and a yellow. The first one I use the purples with just a touch of yellow and the second one uses a wash of yellow over the entire painting, apart from the reserved shapes, with more layers of yellow in some selected areas.
I couldn't choose a favourite, so I am including both!
Here are the mixes I used: The darker purple is ultramarine and magenta, the lighter purple is cerulean, magenta and white and the yellow is cad yellow medium with a little white.

Great paintings, such vivid colours, love the way you have tipped the balance in them. BJ
absolutely wonderful!
Oooh, Rolina, the mostly blue/purple one is delicious! It absolutely resonates with me and I love it. The yellower one is gorgeous in its own right but there is something about the bluer one - I love it to pieces!
I like what you've done with the colors. Very nice job.
both are lovely :D
the pink snuck in the mix really pops against the other colours :)
Thanks everyone! I think the mostly purple one is my favourite, the more I consider them.
Love your style- clean lines and great blocks of color!
I like the more blueish one more - both both are really lovely :-)! Ilkka
Two lovely abstract images with this week's colors. Thanks for visiting my SOC this week.
wonderful flowing pieces - I love purple so the 1st is my favourite
I love them both! I think that the pink looks amazing here, too! Thanks for sharing your talents with all of us at SOC! HUGS!!!!

Fab work. Have a great day, hugs, Valerie
My favourite is the first one! Ulrike
GORGEOUS!!!!
I like the first one better but only because it has more purple.
They are both extremely successful and vibrant. <3
They are both so interesting and creative, but I really love #1.
Thanks everyone - it looks like No.1 is the favourite!
I can't decide which one I love most! I think maybe the first one wins, I love those little 'pops' of yellow.
Great pieces
they are both super and vibrant paintings! SOC #54
They are both beautiful, Rolina. The second one has some more drama which I like.
Oh these are fabulous Rolina!
really exciting things happening in both of these. Fun color combination
These are great!

Your work is beautiful and very creative.
Lovely vibrant color in your pieces!
That darker shade is so gorgeous! Love both of these, and I really like that texture. Is it canvas?
I can see why you couldn't decide which you liked best, Rolina - lovely, both!
Thanks so much everyone for your very kind comments.
Denthe, yes it is canvas, just taped to a board.
I like both :-)
Very vibrant colors!
Cool paintings, both of them, but I do have a favourite and that is the mostly purple one. There's a magical feel to it, like someone said before. Makes me think of a a warm starry night. Thanks for popping in and commenting in my blog!
Both are stunning! such a visual treat!
Oh I love these... such bright happy pieces... with a gorgeous abstract feel... you have used the colors brillantly together...

Stunning pieces...just love them so much!!

Sometimes when I'm working with a color combo, it's hard for me to decide which color to emphasize and which one to use as an accent. Why did I never think of doing what you have done here--making two different pieces in order to try it both ways! Thanks for the idea. :)
I simply ADORE your abstract art. You make the very best abstracts. And I would never be able to choose, either.

Thanks so much everyone, can't believe this is the end of week 3, onward to week 4 tomorrow - I can hardly wait!

I'd be hard-pressed to choose a favorite too as they're both beauties.
Just one word ... STUNNING!
